If during your divorce in the last 20 months you used the Ministry of Justice on-line version of the Financial Statement known as Form E and did not check the figures there is a realistic probability that some of the figures in the “totals” column were incorrectly calculated.
You are urged to check the figures in case the error lead to an improper figure being used and an improper settlement being agreed or decided by a Judge.
After discovering the error last week the Ministry of Justice believe that up to 20,000 couples may have been adversely affected.
The error appears to have failed to deduct debts and other liabilities from the value of the matrimonial property; resulting in a falsely inflated figure for what is, in the majority of case, the asset with the highest value.
